The 25,900 acre lake runs along the Georgia – Alabama state line and extends 35 miles along the Chattahoochee River. It is a boater’s paradise with 34 public areas that have boat ramps. Catfish, bass, crappie, and bream can be found throughout the lake and creeks. R Shaefer Heard Campground has 117 campsites, a boat ramp, playground, and amphitheater. Campsites offer water and electricity for $34 a night. Weekends require a two night minimum, though holidays require three nights. The…

The campground is located on J. Strom Thurmond Lake. At 70,000 acres with over 1000 miles of shoreline, it is the largest lake east of the Mississippi River. The campground has 63 campsites, many of them with water views and access. Ridge Road has a rustic feel with campsites laid on dusty gravel and some requiring fancy negotiation. Maybe, but after six years of maintaining this website – I can’t hold back now. McKinney Campground is located in Acworth, Ga on Lake Allatoona. 05.05.23-05.07.23 Lake Allatoona has many great campgrounds and over the past six years we’ve learned our favorites. For our family, Sweetwater Campground ranks number four on Lake Allatoona. Sweetwater Campground is located in Canton, Georgia on the northeast banks of Lake Allatoona. We drove north up highway 575 to highway 20. The campground includes 149 sites and a large-group camping section with 9 sites and a pavilion.
