Cloudland Canyon State Park – 15

10.01.21-10.03.21 Found our favorite site at Cloudland Canyon State Park, too bad it is already booked solid in the fall of 2022. Our first trip to Cloudland Canyon happened in 2017, the year we bought the camper. We stayed on site 43 in the West Rim and will continue to book West Rim because we prefer the more spread out and wooded campsites. East Rim is great for proximity to the main overlook. (See details/photos about our October 2017 stay at site 43 in Cloudland). Cloudland Canyon State park has recently redone their campsite numbers and added a couple new spots. Information reflects the new campsite numbers, however the photos…

Fort Mountain State Park – 21

Site 21 at Fort Mountain State Park is a pull-thru in the creek side campground (we were in the lake side campground last time.) Both campgrounds are gated which was nice with all of the day visitors coming into the park. Site 21 is at the very end of the loop right before the entrance/exit. Most of the sites in this campground provide lots of shade and have plenty of room between each site. Sites 13-21 on the outside have trails to a small creek that we could hear from our campsite at night.

    High Falls State Park

04.05.19-04.07.19 High Falls has been on my list of must see Georgia State Parks since we bought our camper. The High Falls Dam creates a scenic place for picnics, while further down the Towaliga River are some of the most breathtaking falls. Originally we were scheduled for site 89 in February, but due to a doctor visit and interview we rescheduled. Man am I glad we did! Site 89 on the website map makes it seem like it is riverside, private, with a path to the river. (Update: They have now fixed this on the website.) The paper map handed out at the park correctly has it placed across the…

    Black Rock Mountain State Park

05.11.18-05.13.18 We won’t ever being coming back. The park is great, the campground was nice, but it’s a one and done for us. At least while we are in this camper. Black Rock Mountain is about two and a half hours away from our house and being the weekend warriors that we are, we got up there in the dark about 9:15 p.m. The gate closes at 10 p.m. and they will give you a gate code if you need it. Here is a picture of the little diesel that could. We pull our 2150RB with a diesel Colorado and despite my worry/anxiety it did great. Coming up Black Rock…

    Fort Mountain State Park

11.10.17-11.12.17 Fort Mountain State Park is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest in North Georgia. At the top of the mountain hikers will find a stone fire tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, open for tours on the weekends. The drive up the mountain has quite a few curves, but our truck did great. There are two overlooks that you can pull off for an epic picture, however it was dark on the way up and foggy on the way down – so we didn’t stop. The park includes a 17 acre lake with paddle boats to rent in the summer, a sand beach, and a putt-putt course. The…
