High Falls State Park
04.05.19-04.07.19 High Falls has been on my list of must see Georgia State Parks since we bought our camper. The High Falls Dam creates a scenic place for picnics, while further down the Towaliga River are some of the most breathtaking falls. Originally we were scheduled for site 89 in February, but due to a doctor visit and interview we rescheduled. Man am I glad we did! Site 89 on the website map makes it seem like it is riverside, private, with a path to the river. (Update: They have now fixed this on the website.) The paper map handed out at the park correctly has it placed across the…

Black Rock Mountain State Park
05.11.18-05.13.18 We won’t ever being coming back. The park is great, the campground was nice, but it’s a one and done for us. At least while we are in this camper. Black Rock Mountain is about two and a half hours away from our house and being the weekend warriors that we are, we got up there in the dark about 9:15 p.m. The gate closes at 10 p.m. and they will give you a gate code if you need it. Here is a picture of the little diesel that could. We pull our 2150RB with a diesel Colorado and despite my worry/anxiety it did great. Coming up Black Rock…

Fort Mountain State Park
11.10.17-11.12.17 Fort Mountain State Park is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest in North Georgia. At the top of the mountain hikers will find a stone fire tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, open for tours on the weekends. The drive up the mountain has quite a few curves, but our truck did great. There are two overlooks that you can pull off for an epic picture, however it was dark on the way up and foggy on the way down – so we didn’t stop. The park includes a 17 acre lake with paddle boats to rent in the summer, a sand beach, and a putt-putt course. The…

Cloudland Canyon State Park
10.20.17-10.22.17 Cloudland Canyon State Park is a hidden treasure in Northwest Georgia. Known for both its waterfalls and large outlook, the park attracts huge crowds during the fall when the leaves change colors. The park includes all levels of hiking, easy to strenuous. The Overlook is an easy walk down a paved path from the parking lot. The waterfalls can only be accessed by a strenuous hike down about 2000 steps. Cloudland also offers an 18-hole disc golf course, fishing pond, trails for horseback riding, and a small nature museum. Multiple caves can be found throughout the park and you can even sign up for tours from the rangers. Cloudland…

Vogel State Park
02.16.24-02.19.24 Vogel State Park is located in Blairsville, Georgia, at the bottom of Blood Mountain in the Chattahoochee National Forest. It’s ranked as one of the top parks in the state of Georgia as it’s surrounded by mountains, offers a well stocked lake, and waterfall. The 22-acre lake allows for non-motorized boats and paddle boat rentals are available. Next to the well stocked visitors center is a putt putt course and playground. Many miles of hiking trails can be found throughout the park. The campground recently went through upgrades and the campsite numbers have changed since our previous visits. There are 34 cottages, 90 campsites with water/electricity, and 18 walk-in…
