Victoria Campground – 25
05.24.24-05.28.24 Bring ant bait — more than you think you will need. Victoria Campground is located in Woodstock, GA. A Corps of Engineers park, it has 75 campsites, a beach, playground, boat ramp and boat dock. We have camped at Victoria Campground three other times. To help you choose your next reservation, details and photos from all of our previous visits can be found in the Victoria Campground category. We booked this site (a favorite by many) six months out from the reservation, as soon as the COE website let us book. Victoria Campground is actually closer to our house than McKinney Campground. Reasons we love Victoria Campground include the location on…

Huntington Beach State Park – 61 & 59
7.01.23-07.09.23 Scored a cancellation at our favorite beach campground about two months from the time of the trip. Stay tuned to see how I did that. Huntington Beach State Park is located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. We previously camped at this state park three times and both of us grew up visiting this beach with family. The campground has 173 campsites, 66 of which are full hook-up with sewer connection. Both the north and south campgrounds have short walks to the ocean. The entire park offers 2500 acres of wildlife and the beach extends for three miles. If you follow us on social media you know that we picked up a…

Poinsett State Park
9.16.22-9.18.22 When you know the state park manager you can get an escort at midnight to your campsite. Poinsett State Park in Sumter County, SC is about a four-hour drive for us. Conveniently located on the way to our favorite beach campground, it’s a great place to stop and visit friends who live there. Last time we visited Emily she was a state park ranger at Santee State Park. Now she is THE park manager of Poinsett State Park. The park was built in 1934 by the CCC. It includes a ten-acre pond, 25 miles of hiking/biking trails, and pre-revolutionary gristmill ruins. The CCC built a bathhouse out of the…

In October of 2021, our friends rented a camper to stay with us at McKinney Campground for our daughter’s birthday. They rented through RV Share their…

Old Federal Campground
06.18.21-.06.19-21 Shortest camping trip to date! Tropical storm Claudette was headed our way. We didn’t want to cancel in case the forecast was wrong. We continued to see heavy rain and high winds coming Saturday evening so we packed up before it started. Many other campers left on Saturday as well. This was our first trip to Old Federal Campground COE on Lake Lanier in Flowery Branch, GA. The campground is known for its epic water and sailboat views. The entire campground sits on a large peninsula and is constantly dealing with erosion problems. We have had multiple trips reserved to Old Federal and canceled because of storm damage. It…
