Bolding Mill Campground
07.19.18-07.23.18 Owning a camper can be compared to taking mini vacations multiple times per year. Yes—it can be a lot of work, however it is worth it. We extended our usual Friday-Sunday trip and enjoyed a long weekend on Lake Lanier. Bolding Mill Campground is a Corps of Engineers campground on Lake Lanier in Gainesville (NE portion of the lake.) The campground has 88 electric/water sites and nine primitive campsites. Driving into the campground a brand new dump can be found on the right (more on that later.) Followed by the boat ramp with plenty of parking and a large pavilion with more parking. Further into the park the beach…

Fort Mountain State Park
11.10.17-11.12.17 Fort Mountain State Park is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest in North Georgia. At the top of the mountain hikers will find a stone fire tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, open for tours on the weekends. The drive up the mountain has quite a few curves, but our truck did great. There are two overlooks that you can pull off for an epic picture, however it was dark on the way up and foggy on the way down – so we didn’t stop. The park includes a 17 acre lake with paddle boats to rent in the summer, a sand beach, and a putt-putt course. The…

Cloudland Canyon State Park
10.20.17-10.22.17 Cloudland Canyon State Park is a hidden treasure in Northwest Georgia. Known for both its waterfalls and large outlook, the park attracts huge crowds during the fall when the leaves change colors. The park includes all levels of hiking, easy to strenuous. The Overlook is an easy walk down a paved path from the parking lot. The waterfalls can only be accessed by a strenuous hike down about 2000 steps. Cloudland also offers an 18-hole disc golf course, fishing pond, trails for horseback riding, and a small nature museum. Multiple caves can be found throughout the park and you can even sign up for tours from the rangers. Cloudland…

Bald Ridge Campground – 25
7.20.17-7.25.17 Taking advantage of my summer break, Heather set me up a day early at Bald Ridge Campground, on Lake Lanier. This was our second stay at Bald Ridge and we knew the campground was going to be one of our favorites in the summer. [See details and map of Bald Ridge Campground from my first post.] We particularly love swimming and kayaking in the lake. The water level at Lanier is low and a bit muddy, but you don’t really have to worry about rocks like other lakes in GA. This trip we reserved site 25, a pull through. Once we got there we were worried that it would be…
