Bald Ridge Campground – 43
07.14.22-07.17.22 We were so lucky to pick up one of the best sites in the campground when another camper had to cancel. Our friends are camp hosts at Bald Ridge Creek Campground and had this specific weekend off. We watched the website for cancellations and a couple choices opened up. Bald Ridge Campground is located in Cumming, Georgia on Lake Lanier. A Corps of Engineers park, it has 82 campsites, a beach, playground, and boat ramp. We have camped at Bald Ridge Campground seven other times, it’s our go-to campground on Lake Lanier. To help you choose your next reservation, details and photos from all of our previous visits can…

Clark Creek North Campground – 22
06.14.22-06.19.22 Only 24 sites in the whole campground, but I managed to book my favorite site for my birthday camping trip. Clark Creek Campground is located in Bartow County on Lake Allatoona. It is run by the county and can only be booked through their website. (More details on how to book later.) The campground is split into two sections and is separated by a bridge. We have only stayed in Clark Creek North and like that section better than South, however the perk to the south is that’s where the campground beach and boat dock is. North has one bathhouse and 24 sites. Heather’s favorite site is 14 which…

North Beach Camp Resort
09.22.21-09.26.21 The feeling that you’re camping in a state park, but have a full hook-up? Count me in! North Beach Camp Resort is located in St. Augustine, Florida. The campground is located just 5 miles from downtown St. Augustine, on a barrier island between saltwater North River and the Atlantic Ocean. The campground offers 160 campsites (50 amp, 30 amp, and 20 amp) and three cabins. The obvious attraction to North Beach Camp Resort is that it is located across the road from the beach. It was a short walk to the sand and the beach did not get crowded in September. We took our wagon every day with…

Old Federal Campground
06.18.21-.06.19-21 Shortest camping trip to date! Tropical storm Claudette was headed our way. We didn’t want to cancel in case the forecast was wrong. We continued to see heavy rain and high winds coming Saturday evening so we packed up before it started. Many other campers left on Saturday as well. This was our first trip to Old Federal Campground COE on Lake Lanier in Flowery Branch, GA. The campground is known for its epic water and sailboat views. The entire campground sits on a large peninsula and is constantly dealing with erosion problems. We have had multiple trips reserved to Old Federal and canceled because of storm damage. It…

McDowell Nature Preserve Campground
06.29.17-07.03.17 Finding a campground near a large city can be pretty difficult. We planned to meet friends and celebrate a birthday at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, N.C. It took a lot of research to find something that we liked near the park. It was also going to be a much longer drive from home than our two previous trips. After many google searches we came across McDowell Nature Preserve on Lake Wylie. McDowell Nature Preserve is 1,132 acres and while the campsites are not on the lake, it’s just a short hike to enjoy the view. On campus the nature preserve features live animals, a discovery hall,…
