Duckett Mill Campground – 3
06.08.21-06.11.21 Duckett Mill Campground is located in Gainesville, GA on Lake Lanier. It offers 97 sites with electric/water and 14 tent-only sites. The boat ramp is located just outside the campground gate. The campground does not have a playground; hopefully they will build one soon. The beach is located on the right when you drive into the campground. From our site we could hear people enjoying the beach—it seemed to have a lot more people than our previous visit. It’s difficult to book Duckett Mill Campground because the website doesn’t have site photos. I have been utilizing other peoples Facebook posts to keep track of sites that we would like.…

Old Federal Campground – 29
07.01.21-07.05.21 Lakefront site with great hammock trees and a view of the fireworks—we had a great weekend at Old Federal Campground. Old Federal Campground is located in Flowery Branch, GA on Lake Lanier. There are 83 sites, almost all of them waterfront. A couple weekends ago we stayed on site 80 which had great water access and view of the lake. The Lake Lanier Sailing club is on the next peninsula south of Old Federal. Details and photos of that site and many others can be found here. For the holiday weekend we reserved site 29, a 63 ft back-in site. The site has a 50-amp electric hook up and…

Old Federal Campground
06.18.21-.06.19-21 Shortest camping trip to date! Tropical storm Claudette was headed our way. We didn’t want to cancel in case the forecast was wrong. We continued to see heavy rain and high winds coming Saturday evening so we packed up before it started. Many other campers left on Saturday as well. This was our first trip to Old Federal Campground COE on Lake Lanier in Flowery Branch, GA. The campground is known for its epic water and sailboat views. The entire campground sits on a large peninsula and is constantly dealing with erosion problems. We have had multiple trips reserved to Old Federal and canceled because of storm damage. It…

Clark Creek North Campground -14
05.21.21-05.23.21 Clark Creek is located in Acworth, GA on Lake Allatoona. The campground is owned and operated by Bartow County Parks and Recreation. Split by the road, the park has two campgrounds—north and south. We stayed at Clark Creek North once before, in the early spring. The lake was still low and it was cold outside. Details about that site and the trip here. I booked site 14 about seven months in advance. It is one of the most popular sites in Clark Creek North. All of the 24 sites are waterfront, but of course some are better than others. Site 14 is not only waterfront, it’s private from the…
