Cloudland Canyon State Park -36
10.18.24-10.20.24 Timed the peak colors too early by one weekend. Cloudland Canyon State Park is located in Rising Fawn, GA on the western side of Lookout Mountain. Known for both its waterfalls and large outlook, the park attracts huge crowds during the fall when the leaves change colors. The park includes all levels of hiking–easy to strenuous. The Overlook is an easy walk down a paved path from the parking lot. The waterfalls can only be accessed by a strenuous hike down about 600 stairs. Cloudland Canyon also offers an 18-hole disc golf course, fishing pond, trails for horseback riding, and a small nature museum. Many caves can be found throughout the park and…

Consider a park pavilion for your next event! The picnic shelters and pavilions are rented for the entire day at a reasonable price. We are going to share details below on how to save money on the rental. Fort Mountain State Park – 13
10.27.23-10.29.23 Halloween festivities and peak fall colors in the North Georgia mountains made for a perfect weekend! The volunteer organization, Friends of Fort Mountain State Park hosted Halloween festivities the weekend before Halloween. This was their second time hosting the event at the park and hopefully it will grow each year. The event was promoted through Facebook and the volunteers even reached out by phone to let campers with reservations know what was happening. We participated by decorating our campsite, taking our kids trick or treating, passing out candy at our site, and enjoying the hayride. The hayride was $20 per family or $5 per person. The Friends of Fort…

Huntington Beach State Park – 61 & 59
7.01.23-07.09.23 Scored a cancellation at our favorite beach campground about two months from the time of the trip. Stay tuned to see how I did that. Huntington Beach State Park is located in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. We previously camped at this state park three times and both of us grew up visiting this beach with family. The campground has 173 campsites, 66 of which are full hook-up with sewer connection. Both the north and south campgrounds have short walks to the ocean. The entire park offers 2500 acres of wildlife and the beach extends for three miles. If you follow us on social media you know that we picked up a…
