Victoria Campground – 25
05.24.24-05.28.24 Bring ant bait — more than you think you will need. Victoria Campground is located in Woodstock, GA. A Corps of Engineers park, it has 75 campsites, a beach, playground, boat ramp and boat dock. We have camped at Victoria Campground three other times. To help you choose your next reservation, details and photos from all of our previous visits can be found in the Victoria Campground category. We booked this site (a favorite by many) six months out from the reservation, as soon as the COE website let us book. Victoria Campground is actually closer to our house than McKinney Campground. Reasons we love Victoria Campground include the location on…

Fort Mountain State Park- Cottage 1
10.27.23-10.29.23 Picked up a cancellation for the best cabin at Fort Mountain State Park. We got so lucky! Fort Mountain State Park is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest in North Georgia. At the top of the mountain hikers will find a stone fire tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, open for tours on the weekends. The park includes a 17-acre lake with paddle boats to rent in the summer, a sand beach, and a putt-putt course. The State Park offers a fully stocked visitors center with plenty of ice and firewood. No cell…

Fort Mountain State Park – 13
10.27.23-10.29.23 Halloween festivities and peak fall colors in the North Georgia mountains made for a perfect weekend! The volunteer organization, Friends of Fort Mountain State Park hosted Halloween festivities the weekend before Halloween. This was their second time hosting the event at the park and hopefully it will grow each year. The event was promoted through Facebook and the volunteers even reached out by phone to let campers with reservations know what was happening. We participated by decorating our campsite, taking our kids trick or treating, passing out candy at our site, and enjoying the hayride. The hayride was $20 per family or $5 per person. The Friends of Fort…

10.13.23-10.15.23 After sixteen camping trips to McKinney Campground COE we finally spent a weekend in a campsite we would NOT want to book again. McKinney Campground is located in Acworth, Ga on Lake Allatoona. A Bartow County park, it has 150 RV campsites, two beaches, one playground, and a boat ramp. The campground was completely booked when we decided we wanted to venture out (close to home) for our first camping…
