Talona Ridge RV Resort – Hawk Valley
03.28.25-03.30.25 Gateway to the North Georgia Mountains. Talona Ridge RV Resort is located in East Ellijay, Georgia—right off highway 5. It is convenient to stores, restaurants, wineries, and hikes. Even so close to all this you still feel far away from it all. The amenities include a saltwater pool/hot tub, gym, pickle ball court, playground, dog park, and paved golf cart paths. Coming soon to Talona Ridge RV Resort is the addition of a second pool and restaurant. The operations director at Talona Ridge actually stopped by our campsite to say hello (fellow Great Pyrenees owner) and let us know that the next week they were doing a soft opening of the restaurant. Darn—we just…

Cloudland Canyon State Park -36
10.18.24-10.20.24 Timed the peak colors too early by one weekend. Cloudland Canyon State Park is located in Rising Fawn, GA on the western side of Lookout Mountain. Known for both its waterfalls and large outlook, the park attracts huge crowds during the fall when the leaves change colors. The park includes all levels of hiking–easy to strenuous. The Overlook is an easy walk down a paved path from the parking lot. The waterfalls can only be accessed by a strenuous hike down about 600 stairs. Cloudland Canyon also offers an 18-hole disc golf course, fishing pond, trails for horseback riding, and a small nature museum. Many caves can be found throughout the park and…

Campsites cost between $28 and $32 a night for electric and water hook-ups. To help you choose your next reservation, details and photos from all of our previous visits can be found by site number in the McKinney Campground category. Directions on how to book at McKinney Campground are at the end of this blog post.…

Clark Creek North Campground – 18
08.16.24-08.18.24 I’ve got the perfect campsite for you if you love watching people and boats. Clark Creek North Campground is located in Bartow County on Lake Allatoona. It is run by the county and can only be booked through their website. (Details on how to book below.) The campground is split into two sections and is separated by a bridge. We have only stayed in Clark Creek North and always choose it, but the perk to the south is it’s the location of the campground beach and boat dock. North has one bathhouse and 24 sites. Heather’s favorite campsite is 14 (full blog post here) and my favorite campsite is 22…
