09.20.24 & 09.28.24 Looking for an excellent and easy place to stay the night on the way in or out of Florida? We liked this park so much that we booked it again for the trip home. Tifton Overnight RV is located right off I-75 at exit 62. The park is automated in that you book your site online, receive a gate code, and use that to enter the campground. In the park you will NOT find a camp host, bath house, or vending machine. This is explained on the website–so I’m not sure why people are complaining about it in their google review. Fort Mountain State Park – 15
10.14.22-10.16.22 Fort Mountain State Park is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest in North Georgia. The park’s main attraction is the epic overlooks with views of the North Georgia mountains. At the top of the mountain hikers will find a stone fire tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, open for tours on the weekends. The drive up the mountain has quite a few curves, but our truck did great. The park includes a 17-acre lake with paddle boats to rent in the summer, a sand beach, and a putt-putt course. 9.16.22-9.18.22 When you know the state park manager you can get an escort at midnight to your campsite. Poinsett State Park in Sumter County, SC is about a four-hour drive for us. Conveniently located on the way to our favorite beach campground, it’s a great place to stop and visit friends who live there. Last time we visited Emily she was a state park ranger at Santee State Park. Now she is THE park manager of Poinsett State Park. The park was built in 1934 by the CCC. 07.28.22-07.31.22 150 campsites, 10 camping trips, and we have finally stayed in the back of the campground. McKinney Campground is located in Acworth, Ga on Lake Allatoona. A Corps of Engineers park, it has 150 RV campsites, two beaches, one playground, and a boat ramp. We have camped at McKinney Campground ten times; it’s our go-to campground, nine miles from home. 05.21.21-05.23.21 Clark Creek is located in Acworth, GA on Lake Allatoona. The campground is owned and operated by Bartow County Parks and Recreation. Split by the road, the park has two campgrounds—north and south. We stayed at Clark Creek North once before, in the early spring. The lake was still low and it was cold outside.
