Better Together – Love Adventures Rental

“Imagine Camper” is a blog reviewing campgrounds and campsites that our family has experienced in our Grand Design travel trailer. But we recently stayed at an amazing cabin and wanted to share all the details with our followers (and a discount code) in case they are also thinking about a splurge in their adventures.

“Better Together” is located between Dahlonega and Dawsonville on a serene 60 acres, owned by Love Adventures LLC. The couple that runs the rental property also owns “At Last,” a second cabin off the same road. The properties are up a gravel road with an incline. We were in a four-wheel drive, but it’s not required. Both properties are inside a gate with an electronic code.

We picked “Better Together” for our 10th anniversary. It is a modern and luxurious one bedroom, one bath cabin. Visitors looking for relaxation come for the beautiful secluded property and well-appointed accommodations. We drove right by “At Last” to get to our cabin. “Better Together” is more private because it sits lower and deeper on the property. Once arriving we had to walk down and back up 45 steps to reach the cabin and unload.

“Better Together” has an expansive deck, where we spent most of our time. The living spaces are split by a covered porch. To access the kitchen if you are in the bedroom, you go outside a few steps. The couches inside and on the deck were so comfortable. We brought steaks and sides from a butcher local to us, cooked them on the Fuego propane grill, and enjoyed them on the back deck. We played cards around the smokeless fire pit.

The showstopper of the rental is the unique wood-burning hot tub. When Julie gave us a tour of the place upon our arrival she explained the thought that went into building these cabins. I really appreciated the idea of not using a regular hot tub because of how loud the motor is. When we were in the wood burning hot tub we enjoyed the smell and sound of the fire. You do have to be careful to not add too much wood to the fire because we did make the water too hot on Friday night. Also, there is a delay in using the hot tub because you have to give it time to heat up, just plan ahead because the wait is worth it.

The kitchen had everything we might need. We toasted the bagels we brought in the toaster oven, reheated some leftover pizza in the microwave, and enjoyed many drinks with ice from the countertop ice maker. The fridge is located below the counter inside a cabinet and while this was our only concern for the trip, I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t need to be. We brought back a large circle pizza container from Montaluce Winery & Restaurant that fit with no problem. Honestly we felt like the fridge space was larger than our RV fridge.

The owners of “Better Together” really thought of everything when it came to supplies for the guests. We had more firewood than we could ever dream of using. They also had a little wood chopping set up if we felt like we needed more kindling. We were supplied with six fire starters, only using four of them. We absolutely needed bug spray in the evenings on the back deck and were pleasantly surprised to find that they had supplied a bottle of fragrance-free bug spray. There was a drawer in the bathroom full of items that a guest may have forgotten, like makeup remover or a toothbrush.

They also supplied (and Julie, the owner, insisted we use) hiking poles. Their property has miles of trails down to Calhoun creek and back up to the cabins. The trails can be steep at some points so the hiking poles are necessary. I also used them to break up the many spider webs throughout the trees. We were so impressed with how much they have kept up the trails. We hiked down the connector trail from the cabin to the creek, walked over to where they marked a swimming hole, continued on the trail along the creek to the boulder crossing, and then cut back up the connector trail to the cable crossing on the Gold Trail. Wish I had mileage to share, but I did not wear my apple watch or track the hike on my phone.

Leading up to our stay at “Better Together” Julie sent us multiple messages to make sure we did not have any questions. She offered us the option to order cupcakes from the local bakery to be at the cabin upon our arrival. When we decided to add those to our reservation she handled the ordering. They were so good!!

Before we arrived at the cabin on Friday for our 3:00 p.m. check-in we walked around downtown Dahlonega and ate dinner at Spirits Tavern. We would highly recommend the burgers from this restaurant. On Saturday we drove over to Montaluce Winery & Restaurant to do a tasting. We were somewhat disappointed because the back was closed due to a wedding. We had the tasting on the side of the building, but still enjoyed the mountain view from the front. We had a 5:15pm reservation, but walked in early to eat dinner. The food was great, the wine was pricey.

Sunday we checked out of the cabin at 11:00 a.m. and drove over to Wolf Mountain Vineyards. We had a reservation at 12:30 for their brunch buffet. It was priced about $50 per person, and worth every penny. They seat at 12:30 and 2:00 p.m. We had time to do a wine tasting downstairs before the brunch. Each month they have a different theme for the food and September was Mediterranean. The food was SO good. We went back for seconds on the salad (wish they bottled the dressing), the French toast, the eggs Benedict, and the pork. We also purchased several bottles of wine to take home and enjoy later. Wolf Mountain Vineyards is very much a family business and they treat their guests as if they are part of that family. We couldn’t have chosen a better close to our tenth anniversary weekend.

Julie, the host gave us a discount code with our followers! Use code SealSTAYFREE to receive a free weekday night with your reservation. Let us know if you book a stay at Better Together or any of the Love Adventures rentals. We would love to hear what you thought about it!
